چکیده

This paper reports the development of TOUCANS, a new Monte Carlo neutron transport code fully written using GEANT4 toolkit. It aims at modeling complex systems easily and rapidly, thanks to simple key–value input file. While its main focus is low energy neutrons – below 20 MeV evaluated cross-section libraries, it also takes advantage state-of-the-art capabilities offered by regarding modeled cross-sections for practically all particles energies. Hence gives access non-specialists wide variety applications involving different particles, such as simulation compact accelerator based sources (CANS) which initially motivated development. leverages on recent implementations performed within provide both shielding calculation (using Adaptive Multilevel Splitting, full y automated variance reduction technique) criticality (to estimate keff multiplicative system). benefits from tight coupling with CADMesh readily import CAD models, NCrystal extend support thermal crystals, FIFRELIN increase compound nucleus de-excitation accuracy, FUNZ user parametric (such multi-objective algorithms Pareto sets). Thanks improvements physics Neutron-HP package, TOUCANS can be considered on-par industrial codes Tripoli-4® or MCNP in term accuracy. Its should released soon amongst advanced examples.

A GEANT4 Monte-Carlo Simulation Code for precision β spectroscopy

The measurement of the β asymmetry parameter in nuclear β decay is a potentially very sensitive tool to search for non V −A components in the charge-changing weak interaction. To reach the required precision (percent level) all effects that modify the emission pattern of the β radiation, i.e. the geometry of the setup, the effect of the magnetic field on the trajectories of β particles as well ...

Monte Carlo Simulation of Proton and Neutron Transport Based on the PENELOPE Code

This master thesis is a continuation of previous work done at Elekta Instrument AB for the joint objective of developing the Monte Carlo simulation program, Pegasos, for proton therapy. For this purpose, neutron transport with nuclear interactions has been implemented into the Pegasos framework. Nuclear data is provided from the TALYS nuclear code and for neutron-hydrogen nuclear interactions, ...

Neutron Transport Calculations Using Monte-Carlo Methods

Fusion reactions from direct-drive inertial confinement fusion experiments at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) release large amounts of stored nuclear energy. Most of it is given off as energetic neutrons. Plastic scintillators are used as detectors for these neutrons. The neutrons that interact with the scintillator produce photons that are recorded using a photomultiplier tube on a f...

MC++: A Parallel, Portable, Monte Carlo Neutron Transport Code in C++

MC++ is an implicit multi-group Monte Carlo neutron transport code written in C++ and based on the Parallel Object-Oriented Methods and Applications (POOMA) class library. MC++ runs in parallel on and is portable to a wide variety of platforms, including MPPs, SMPs, and clusters of UNIX workstations. MC++ is being developed to provide transport capabilities to the Accelerated Strategic Computin...

Multi-core performance studies of a Monte Carlo neutron transport code

Performance results are presented for a multi-threaded version of the OpenMC Monte Carlo neutronics code using OpenMP in the context of nuclear reactor criticality calculations. Our main interest is production computing, and thus we limit our approach to threading strategies that both require reasonable levels of development effort and preserve the code features necessary for robust application...
